RADICAL HOSPITALITY
MASTER IN PERFORMANCE RESEARCH
NORWEGIAN THEATRE ACADEMY, FREDRIKSTAD. NORWAY. NOVEMBER 2023.
Documentation by Svein Ove Kirkkhorn
RADICAL HOSPITALITY is an interactive multimedia project including video, performance and installation. It deals with organic food production, culinary traditions, and energy technology. Crafted during their Master of Arts in Performance in Norway, this is Chellet's first directed performance investigating desire in the performativity and the sensuality of food.
For their master project in Norway, Alejandro is collaborating closely with a group of artists spanning various fields, including erotics, food art, permaculture, cooking, video art, directing, performance, and movement. This diverse group of artists encompasses a range of sexuality and gender identities, with a focus on queering relationships to leadership dynamics and exploring Radical Hospitality as a central aspect of the project's methodology.
They are creating a multidisciplinary work comprising a multichannel video installation and a performance. Their intention is to deeply explore how the act of savoring food fosters unity, awakening participants to a transformative process. This journey begins with raw ingredients and culminates in delectable dishes that satisfy hunger while igniting joy and primal desires.
Their exploration also delves into the complex interplay between sexuality and innate desires for others, prompting reflection on how these desires influence life choices. Additionally, they are interested in examining the impact of technology, particularly social media, on human connections, behaviors, and self-perception. They seek to understand how relationships, behaviors, and perceptions are evolving in a world inundated with mediated images and ideals, shaped by advancing technological forces.
Performance collaboration by Lauri Lohi and Kathrin Schweizer.
